Currency Codes

Below is a list of Currency Codes used in Crunchbase and returned by the API for any fields that are of the field type - "money" and "money_decimal".

The object returned by the API contains 2 values:

the value that was originally entered along with the original currency (e.g. if a user/staff enters the value as JPY, the value will be provided in JPY)
the corresponding value in USD (more details [here] (#section-exchange-rate))

Our platform uses the exchange rate from https://openexchangerates.org. When we pull the exchange rate, our platform also takes the date of the event into consideration so the exchange rate is as accurate as possible even for historical events.

For example, a funding round occurred on 4/2/2010 and its "money raised" amount is provided to Crunchbase in JPY. To translate that amount into USD, our platform will pull the exchange rate for JPY-to-USD on 4/2/2010.
